Project Description

The intervention area of Rua Gomes Freire is situated in the centre of Lisbon, between Picoas and Campo Mártires da Pátria, thus benefiting from its proximity to the Metro network (Yellow line, 10 minutes from Picoas station), as well as Carris bus services.

It is a fantastic location, between two gardens: Praça José Fontana (Picoas) and Campo Mártires da Pátria (both less than 10 minutes' walk away).

Its proximity to Picoas offers access on foot to shops and specialised services, the 31 de Janeiro Market, as well as all the local shops existing in this consolidated area of the city. It is also close to schools and to several hospitals: Dona Estefânia, Santo António dos Capuchos and São José.

This project, in the civil parish of Arroios, includes restoration of the building at Rua Gomes Freire 92, a 19th-century mansion (former police station), to be refurbished and converted into housing. In the current car park here, new buildings and public spaces will be built.
