The intervention area of Rua de São Lázaro is located in the historic centre of Lisbon, next to Praça do Martim Moniz. It is also near the Baixa Pombalina, the historic Mouraria neighbourhood and the garden of Campo Mártires da Pátria.
It is a location with excellent public transportion links, with Metro (Green line), several bus routes, and a 10 minutes walk to Rossio Railway Station (Sintra Line).
In this part of Lisbon, everything needed in everyday life can be easily accessed, on foot or by bicycle. There are local shops, including café terraces and shops selling exotic products on Martim Moniz, and all the shops and restaurants on Av. Almirante Reis, Largo do Intendente, Baixa and Av. da Liberdade are only 10 minutes walk away. There are also local and family support amenities.
Existing shops will be renovated and new shops will be created in the operation buildings.
In this housing project for the historic city centre, right next to Hospital de São José, there are no parking spaces in the buildings to be renovated, or built, although parking spaces can be leased in neighbouring car parks (Martim Moniz, Praça da Figueira and Restauradores).
On Rua de São Lázaro, in the civil parishes of Santa Maria Maior and Arroios, there is a significant concentration of adjoining municipal properties, comprising buildings from several different eras, mainly the 17th and 19th centuries. These are to be the subject of integrated intervention, providing them with the necessary residential quality, and preserving and enhancing their cultural heritage value.
